Happy New Year!!!!

Hey Folks, I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a wonderful 2009 and to thankyou for looking in over the past 12 months ... it's been a blast :o)

With the new year almost upon us it wont be long until my new website is launched, along with a whole new blog and plenty of news to tell you, so in the mean time, have a great evening whatever you're doing and whoever you're doing it with and I'll see you soon.

Here's to a year packed full of pixels,
Glyn :o)

If you go down to the woods today ....

Ok, so maybe you wont see bears having a picnic but you may see two grown men lurking with cameras ... nothing untoward I promise you, just my good friend Neal and myself out taking a few shots ... honest :o)

Like I mentioned on the previous blog entry, I'm trying to squeeze as much out of 2008 as possible so I met up with Neal yesterday afternoon to do a recce for some future photo shoots. As luck would have it, very close to where he lives is a Copse, which has endless shooting opportunities year round, so I couldn't resist taking a few there and then. The photos I've attached were taken during the middle of the afternoon on what was a bright (but bloomin' cold) day, making use of a few flashes to give the photos a bit of atmosphere.

Enjoy ;o)

Phoebe & George

As 2008 is soon to be over, I'm trying to squeeze in a few more photo shoots to make the most of the holidays and so today I was out photographing my neighbours' (Steve & Edwina) children, Phoebe & George.

I've written about them before here on the blog, saying how much I think of them ... not only are they just the best neighbours anyone could wish for, but I'm also very proud to be able to call them friends. Their two children, Phoebe and George are continuing to grow into such lovely people and as such are great fun and just a pleasure to photograph.

Enjoy :o)

2008 Review ... well, sort of :o)

Well, it's not quite a review of 2008, it's more a video of a few photographs that I've taken during the year .. some you may have seen already and some you may not :o)

I've also attached a photo which I found whilst sorting through some of my hard drives. It's a montage I did for a HR company a couple of months ago for the 'who are we' part of their website. Not wanting to come across as you're stereotypical office workers they wanted something putting together that was a little different, hence the take on the 'Usual Suspects'. Each of the portraits had to be taken individually because of limited shooting space, and then all that was needed was a little work in photoshop. It's far from the finished article cos there's a few little editing tweeks needed, but you get the idea. Hey, no-one ever told me that corporate photos have to be serious :o)

Merry Christmas :o)

On what is undoubtedly going to be a day of over indulgence, I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a Merry Christmas; wherever you are, whatever you're doing and whoever you're doing it with ... have a great day :o)

I've lots to tell you about that is coming soon ... i.e. new website, new blog, photo shoots, a competition etc ... but today is not the day for sitting in front of the computer (well, maybe not all day) so I'll be sure to update you soon.

Bye for now :o)

Total Dedication

These shots are of Antonia Van Deventer Taylor, Pilates Instructor and International Rower. Antonia is without doubt one of the most inspirational and dedicated people I've ever met, and I'm sure wouldn't mind me saying that not so long ago looked nothing like she does now. Over a short period of time Antonia, through sheer hard work and dedication, has completely changed her body and lifestyle from someone who neared 13 stones in weight, to someone now who has run marathons, trains everyday of the week and Rowes at International Level.

Like my good friend Sean who I photographed a few weeks back following his return to competitive bodybuilding at the age of 50, Antonia is another example of what can be achieved if you just put your mind to it.

Awesome!!!

The Boat House

Yesterday afternoon I was over at the U.T.R.C. (Upper Thames Rowing Club) in Henley to take some portrait photos but whilst setting up I couldn't resist taking a shot of a friend of mine Johnny Woodiss-Field in front of the club's Boat House.

As is the norm' at the moment it was a little on the chilly side and light was fading fast, so working quickly was definitely order of the day ... especially when it came to taking the portrait photos of 'Pilates' Instructor and International rower, Antonia Van Deventer Taylor, wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a vest, on the banks of the Thames!!! Now that's dedication !!!

Oxygen Hair & Beauty Model Shoot

Having been invited by the owner Angelo, last night I was over at Oxygen Hair & Beauty Salon in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire doing a 'hair up' promotional photo shoot with a few models. Head stylist Phil was demonstrating a number of styles that are to be used in their new Wedding Hair / Beauty Package that will be launching early 2009.

At the moment we're all working together on a number of projects aimed at promoting both our businesses and one of which is a model shoot at the luxurious Luton Hoo Hotel, Bedfordshire in January ... so watch this space for more details coming soon.

In the meantime here's a couple of shots taken last night of one of the models, Francesca. I'll post more here once I've added a few finishing touches.

Enjoy :o)

More 'Shots' of Heathrow's Armed Response

Hi All,
Following on from my last post I thought you might like to see a couple more shots of the ARV (Armed Response Vehicle) Officers that I've taken this week whilst down at Heathrow Airport.

Again, a rather chilly day to be taking photos in 'shirts' but all credit to the guys ... not one mention of being cold ... well, not that I heard anyway :o)

Enjoy

Heathrow's Armed Response

Here's a shot that I took today whilst over at Heathrow Airport of a guy by the name of Steve Law.

Steve is one of the Armed Response Vehicle Police Officers (ARV) that now work out of Heathrow and have gone through an advanced firearms course which equips them for dealing with all manner of firearms / terrorist incidents.

I must thank Steve for his patience standing there for me on a day that could certainly be described as 'chilly' ... but you didn't want to wear your fleece anyway Steve did you ? ... did you ?

Enjoy :o)

Salt of the earth :o)

As we go through life all manner of people cross our paths and become friends, but every now and again you meet someone that you would classify as a 'best mate' ... someone you trust implicitly, have the same sense of humour and so on ...

The photograph I've attached to this 'blog' entry is one I took of a guy by the name of Dave Gurnhill ... someone I would call my 'best mate'. Dave's a thoroughly decent 'bloke' and to use an old Cockney phrase (I think) ... 'Salt of the earth'. I can honestly say that every day I've worked with Dave, I've 'belly laughed' at least once, and having fun is certainly a priority!!!

Earlier this year I was completely bowled over when Dave asked me to be God Father to his gorgeous little boy Jamie ... doesn't get any better than that huh :o)

>ps ... The 'moody' look was intentional :o)

The Cape Cookery Book

For the past couple of days I've been at a South African Delicatessan / Cafe in Little Chalfont, Buckinghamshire called 'The Cape' photographing what seemed like an endless supply of delicious authentic South African food. The owner and resident 'magician' in the kitchen is Jo Seeby and the reason for the all the photographs is that she's now in the process of writing her first cookery book.

Photographs were taken at the Deli which had a constant stream of customers through the door making work just a little bit challenging at times; however I'd be a liar to say I didn't sneak the odd mouthful of food during all the hustle and bustle.

Anyway, I'll keep you posted as to when the book is published cos going by what I saw, it's definitely gonna be one worth having.

Bye for now ;o)
